President of the Paper Recycling Industrialists' Association (AGED)
Mahmut Ciğer is a business leader recognized for his over 30 years of experience in the industrial world, known for his strong strategic vision.
Since 1995, he has held Chairman and Vice-Chairman positions on the Boards of Directors of leading paper and packaging sector companies both domestically and internationally, taking on significant roles in the strategic management of corporate groups operating across various industrial fields. Through his work in sectors such as energy, recycling, logistics, textiles, and construction, he has established a broad sphere of influence in the business world.
His career journey began in the 1990s with executive positions, and over the years, he has pioneered environmentally conscious, efficiency-focused, and technology-based industrial investments. He is recognized as an exemplary leader in long-term planning, operational discipline, and sustainable growth. Actively involved in sectoral civil society work, Ciğer has led pioneering projects, particularly in recycling, environmental awareness, and the circular economy, contributing to the development of sustainable industry standards in Turkey.
Since March 2022, Ciğer has been serving as the President of the Paper Recycling Industrialists' Association (AGED), actively developing projects for the sector's advancement on various platforms focused on recycling and sustainable development. As President of AGED, Mahmut Ciğer plays an active role in the sector, possessing extensive years of experience on both the production and management sides of the recycling and paper industries.
As President of AGED, representing paper recycling industrialists in Turkey, Mahmut Ciğer leads efforts to enhance the sector's compliance with regulations, increase capacity, and boost competitiveness. Holding regular meetings with officials from the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, the Ministry of Trade, the Environment Agency, and representatives of other ministries, the AGED President brings critical issues facing the sector—such as import/export challenges and raw material dependency—to the forefront and proposes solutions.
Beginning his education at Özel Kalamış Lisesi, Mahmut Ciğer pursued his undergraduate studies at Bilkent University and completed his academic journey with a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) program at The American College for the Applied Arts in Los Angeles.
Today, combining his over 30 years of industrial experience with a focus on innovation, environmental sustainability, and international competitiveness, Mahmut Ciğer is also a married father of four.
