The event was held by the Union of Timber Manufacturers and Exporters of Russia, the RF CCI and by Conference operator - the Association of Specialists of Pulp and Paper Industry (ASPPI).
The Conference in Vienna became an effective platform for communication between heads of state authorities, business structures, timber and pulp and paper industries, equipment manufacturers and product consumers.

The President of the Union of Timber Industrialists and Timber Exporters of Russia - Miron Tatsyun and the Vice-President of the RF CCI - Dmitry Kurochkin addressed the Conference participants with a welcoming speech. Following on from the results of the last Conference, a number of expert suggestions concerning the development of the pulp and paper industry were stated and sent to relevant authorities. Meetings with representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Natural Resources and other interested departments were held. Pulp and paper industry’s special significance for the development of the Russian economy with its rich forest reserves was also noted. An additional development factor is a considerable increase in pulp and paper products demand from countries of the Asia-Pacific region, including China and India. Priority investment projects and concessional financing within the context of the Industry Development Fund remain important instruments of state support for the timber industry.

Within the Conference framework, five-panel discussions took place in the following areas:

• “Russian Timber Processing Complex Development Strategy - Implementation Plan. Wood supply and ecological restrictions”;

• “State and development trends of the pulp and paper industry product markets”;

• “Round table with CEOs”;

• “Features of project financing of timber and chemical complexes”;

• "Modern solutions for the implementation of large investment projects".

Event participants awarding ceremony with prizes and diplomas was held at the Conference. Segezha Pulp and Paper Mill JSC and Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill JSC were awarded as “The Best Pulp and Paper Production Organization in the Field of Innovation and Production Modernization” and Sberbank got the special prize as “The Most Effective Partner of Russian Pulp and Paper Industry among Credit and Financial Institutions”.

The Conference was attended by more than 200 people: about 40 leading speakers in the field of pulp and paper industry, leaders of manufacturing companies, scientific institutions and organizations, representatives of forestry sector, foreign guests, industry media, government representatives, Rosleskhoz, Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Industry and Trade, as well as a number of governors.

The Conference was attended by heads of major companies such as Arkhangelsk PPM, Mondi Syktyvkar, Sberbank, Karjala Pulp, Andritz, Ekman, AsstrA, SFT Group, Schneider Electric, Segezha Group and many others.
